Ohshitohno

Thanks, V.V.F. Thanks a lot.

Saw something neat at the VVF blog, thought I'd check it out, run the old Head for the Red posts through a text analyzer to see who I write like...

I write like
Dan Brown
I Write Like by Mémoires, Mac journal software. Analyze your writing!

But do I get paid like Dan Brown? Fuck no.

But that's just some posts I tested, the majority, granted, but on others I get:

I write like
H. P. Lovecraft
I Write Like by Mémoires, Mac journal software. Analyze your writing!

(Lots of quotes from the Corpus Hermeticum is what returns that result.)

I write like
Chuck Palahniuk
I Write Like by Mémoires, Mac journal software. Analyze your writing!

Heh. Erisian influences can last years, apparently.

I write like
James Joyce
I Write Like by Mémoires, Mac journal software. Analyze your writing!

Fuck you, man, I'm sober!

Ok, out of time to play with that thing.

  1. That thing is really annoying and inaccurate. Apparently, I write like Joyce. I hate Joyce.

  2. I only did this once. According to the software, I write like Raymond Chandler.

  3. @Scott: According to that thing, Hemmingway writes like Joyce too. And Neil Gaimon writes like Dan Brown.

Lavannah: How come you get the cool one!?

  4. I got Stephen King!

To be honest, I'm relieved, because I used the haircut post and I was scared it was going to say Candace Bushnell.

  5. I tried various postings. Like you, I got a couple of Dan Browns, and two Lovecrafts, but I also got several Nabakovs. That must be because I've lived abroad so long I write English like a foreigner now. Oh, and the first posting on my magic blog was like L.Frank Baum. That must have been because I was "off the see the Wizard..."

  8. Okay, WTF. Conspiracy of Pleasure = Asimov (with a couple of Lovecraft). Anaithnid Games blog = Nabokov (and Chandler). I'd like to know what Asimov and Nabokov they're using as a basis. Seriously.

Even me ripping off Andrew Vachss comes out as "Joyce" to this thing. WTF...
